A 62-year-old Imperial man was arrested Thursday evening (May 14) for allegedly shooting at a neighbor’s home in the 3500 block of East Four Ridge Road in Imperial. No one was injured in the incident, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At about 7:15 p.m., the man reportedly used an assault-style rifle to fire several shots into the home. The suspect apparently was having a dispute with someone who lives in the house. However, the Sheriff’s Office does not know the nature of the disagreement, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
When deputies arrived at the suspect’s home, he appeared intoxicated. The deputies took the rifle from the man and then transported him to an area hospital for evaluation, according to the report.
After he was examined at the hospital, the man was transported to the Jefferson County Jail. As of this afternoon (May 15), he was still in custody, Bissell said.
He said the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for armed criminal action and assault.
