man in handcuffs

A 56-year-old Hillsboro-area man was arrested for allegedly shooting at another man outside a home on Red Bud Lane west of Hillsboro. The suspect allegedly shot at the man because a female neighbor who lived at the home was afraid of the man. No one was injured in the incident, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Officer reported.

The woman called the Sheriff’s Office to the home at 9:17 p.m. June 21 and said she had heard several gunshots, looked outside and saw her neighbor shooting at the man who was driving away in a vehicle, the report said.

She said she had called her neighbor, the suspect, to her home because she was afraid the alleged victim was going to come to her house. She said the alleged victim had been involved in a domestic dispute with her daughter, according to the report.

A detective found one bullet hole in the area, the report said.

The neighbor was arrested and released pending application for warrants. As of June 30, the Sheriff’s Office had not sought charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
