A 39-year-old High Ridge woman was found with a substance suspected of being an illegal drug following a traffic stop in Imperial. The woman also was arrested on an active warrant following the stop, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
A deputy at about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 28 saw the woman driving a 2025 Nissan Altima north on Old Hwy. 21 near Old Hwy. M, and she stopped the woman because the taillights were off on the car. The woman told the deputy she must have turned off the car’s lights and forgot to turn them back on, the report said.
The deputy allegedly saw a hypodermic needle on the front passenger’s seat, and she also learned the woman was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant. After arresting the woman, the deputy searched the car and allegedly found multiple glass smoking pipes and a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance, according to the report.
The woman was taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where she was booked on and held on the warrant, the report said.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Capt. Matt Moore said.
