Andrew Roland Krause, 27, of High Ridge was recently arrested after being accused of ignoring injuries a young boy sustained. Krause allegedly did not seek medical attention over a five-day period for the boy, according to court documents.
Krause was arrested on Jan. 29, and as of Monday, Feb. 2, he was being held on a $5,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, jail records show.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on July 1, 2025, charged Krause with felony first-degree endangering the welfare of a child creating a substantial risk. The charge stems from a boy, who was younger than 17, sustaining injuries between Feb. 26 through March 2, 2024, court records said.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was called on March 2, 2024, to check on the boy at a High Ridge apartment. The boy allegedly had bruises on his face.
The boy was taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and a doctor reported the injuries were consistent with possible abuse. The doctor also reported the boy tested positive for having methamphetamine and marijuana in his system, the report said.
A woman told a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office investigator that Krause started crying when she asked him about the boy’s injuries. She said he told her that he neglected the boy, and she also told the investigator that Krause did not use meth, according to the report.
The woman, who talked with the investigator, also emailed the doctor who examined the boy. In the email, the woman told the doctor that Krause said, “I don’t know how I became this person” and “I didn’t take care of him and it’s all my fault,” the report said.
The email also said that Krause told the woman the boy kept crying and throwing himself on the ground, according to the report.
