A 44-year-old High Ridge man was arrested for alleged drug possession and driving with a revoked license following a traffic stop in Cedar Hill, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
A deputy on Aug. 9 stopped the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado that the man was driving for a traffic violation in the area of Hwy. 30 and Local Hillsboro Road. The report does not say what the alleged violation was the prompted the stop.
The man did not have identification, and he allegedly provided a fake name and told the deputy he was 40 years old. When the deputy couldn’t identify the man through a computer inquiry, he asked the man to identify himself again and the man provided the correct information, the report said.
After getting the proper identification, the deputy learned the man’s driving’s license was revoked, and he arrested the man. When the deputy searched the man, he allegedly found a bag with suspected narcotics in the man’s pocket, according to the report.
The man was taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where he was booked and released pending the application for a warrant, the report said.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and driving with a revoked license, Capt. Matt Moore said.
