Two teenagers, one from High Ridge and the other from House Springs, were hurt Tuesday evening (March 10) in a traffic accident in the 4100 block of Gravois Road in House Springs, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At 6:50 p.m., Jake K. Jerca, 17, of High Ridge was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry north on Gravois Road and allegedly took his hands off the steering wheel and then the passenger in the car – Haley M. Fuss, 18, of House Springs – reportedly grabbed the steering wheel before the car ran off the right side of the road and struck a sign post and then two parked vehicles, the report said.
No drivers were inside the parked vehicles – a 1992 Ford F-150 and a 1998 Chevrolet C/K 2500 – according to the report.
Both Jerca and Fuss were moderately injured and taken by Big River Ambulance to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Jerca was not wearing a seat belt, and Fuss was wearing one, the patrol reported.
The Camry and F-150 were totaled, and the C/K 2500 was moderately damaged, the report said.
