The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 34-year-old Grubville woman after seeing her in a pickup that was reported stolen in Jasper County. Deputies also allegedly found suspected narcotics in her pocket, police reported.
On Feb. 17, a deputy saw a 2018 black GMC Sierra at a gas station pump in the 10000 block of Hwy. Y northwest of De Soto. The deputy had seen a Flock license-plate reading camera alert that said a similar pickup had been reported stolen, the report said.
The deputy saw the woman come out of the convenience store and approach the pickup. She allegedly told him the pickup belonged to her boyfriend, but the deputy confirmed with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office that it was the stolen Sierra, according to the report.
The woman was arrested, and when she was searched, a deputy allegedly found suspected illegal drugs. She was taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where she was booked and released pending the application of charges, the report said.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for tampering with a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Matt Moore said.
