Festus firefighters spent most of Monday, March 4, on the scene of a gas leak at the intersection of Belmont Drive and Pullman Drive. No injuries were reported, and no homes or businesses were evacuated, according to Festus Fire Chief Jeff Broombaugh.
He said the Festus Fire Department got a call at approximately 9 a.m. about the gas leak after a construction company was operating a boring machine as part of a project to install fiber optic cable when it struck a gas main that feeds the Bailey Station subdivision.
Firefighters left at 3:40 p.m. while the repair was being made, Broombaugh said.
