A vacant building in the 600 block of Christ Drive in Arnold was destroyed by fire Saturday morning (Nov. 9). No one was injured, the Rock Community Fire Protection District reported.
Rock Fire got a call at 1:13 a.m. about the fire at the building, which was being renovated from a home into an apartment. When firefighters arrived, the building was engulfed in flames and had already collapsed, Rock Fire spokesman Ron Harder said.
The fire was under control at about 2:15 a.m. It was contained to the area where the building had stood and did not damage any surrounding structures, Harder said.
On Wednesday (Nov. 13), Fire Marshal Jeff DeLapp said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Mehlville Fire Protection District and Rock Township Ambulance District helped with the call, Harder said.
