Rock firefighters work to extinguish a blaze that destroyed this home on Ridgecrest Drive in Arnold.

A fire destroyed a vacant home in the 2300 block of Ridgecrest Drive in Arnold. Neighbors called 911 to report the fire after seeing a glow in the area, the Rock Community Fire Protect District reported.

Rock Fire was dispatched to the home at about 3:30 a.m. July 10, and when the first firetruck arrived at about 3:35 a.m., the home was well involved in flames. The fire was under control at 4:07 a.m., the report said.

The home was not occupied, and no belongings were in the house at the time of the fire, although the home still had working utilities, Rock Fire spokeswoman Stephanie Jackson said.

Investigators could not determine what caused the fire, but it did not appear suspicious, Rock Fire reported.

The Mehlville Fire Protection District helped with the call, and the Rock Township Ambulance District responded to the home.
