A fire at a home on Williams Creek Road in High Ridge destroyed a carport, garage, shed and pickups.

A fire on Feb. 21 destroyed an attached carport, attached garage, a shed and two pickups at a home in the 2200 block of Williams Creek Road in High Ridge. The homeowner was sleeping when the fire started but was able to get out of the house without injury, said John Barton, engineer for the High Ridge Fire Protection District.

Barton said a dog also got out of the house unharmed.

He said a family member called 911 after driving by the house and seeing flames in the attached carport.

Barton said the fire district received the call at 8:14 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 8:21 p.m.

He said the fire is not suspicious, but the Jefferson County Fire Investigation team is looking into the cause of the fire.

Barton said crews were able to stop the fire from spreading into the living area of the home, so it only had minor smoke damage.

The fire was under control by 8:56 p.m. and crews left the scene at 12:21 a.m. Feb. 22, he said.

The Fenton, Eureka and Valley Park fire protection districts and the North Jefferson County Ambulance District helped with the call.
