A fire destroyed a camper in the 12600 block of Green Acres Drive just outside De Soto on Nov. 6, said Deputy Chief John Scullin of the De Soto Rural Fire Protection District.
At 4:49 p.m., someone called 911 to report an explosion and large fire in that area, Scullin said.
He said firefighters arrived at 5:09 p.m. and found a camper fully engulfed in flames in the woods adjoining a residence. Firefighters had the fire under control by 5:21 p.m.
Scullin said he believes two people were at the camper when the explosion occurred and Valle Ambulance District personnel treated a man for a minor injury at the scene.
He said on Nov. 7 that the cause of the fire may not be determined due to the extent of the damage.
Scullin said the De Soto Fire Department, Valle Ambulance District and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
