T&J Auto Repair in De Soto was damaged by a recent fire, and arson is suspected

T&J Auto Repair in De Soto was damaged by a recent fire, and arson is suspected.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a Sept. 8 fire at T&J Auto Repair and Towing in De Soto. Arson is suspected, De Soto Fire Chief Tony Ochoa said.

He said firefighters arrived at the auto shop, 606 Flucom Road, at 6:10 p.m., and found black smoke coming from the building. No one was inside at the time, and no one was injured.

“The State Fire Marshal was contacted for an investigation for possible arson,” Ochoa said Tuesday, Sept. 12. “It is still under investigation.”

He said there was a lot of smoke and fire damage throughout the building.

The De Soto Rural, Hillsboro, Hematite and Jefferson R-7 fire protection districts and the Festus Fire Department helped with the call.
