A mobile home was damaged by fire on Vogel Circle just outside Arnold. Two adults, two children and a dog safely evacuated from the home, the Rock Community Fire Protection District reported.
Rock Fire got a call at approximately 9:30 p.m. Jan. 12 about the fire, and the first firetruck arrived at 9:33 p.m. Smoke was coming from the home, and it was determined the fire started in a bathroom, the report said.
The fire was quickly extinguished and the scene was cleared at about 10:50 p.m., according to the report.
A firefighter was transported to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County because of smoke inhalation. He was treated and released that evening, Rock Fire spokeswoman Alyson Rotter said.
The cause of the fire was not determined as of Wednesday, Jan. 17, and the incident was still under investigation, Rotter said.
She said the Red Cross assisted the family because the home was not habitable.
The Saline Valley Fire Protection District helped with the call. The Rock Township Ambulance District also responded.
