A fire caused minimal damage in the ceiling of Express Laundry Center, 24 Fox Valley Center, at the Fox Valley Center shopping plaza in Arnold, the Rock Community Fire Protection District reported.
Rock Fire was called to the laundromat at 8:24 p.m. Nov. 18. Firefighters found light smoke coming from the ceiling of the laundromat and under the floor of the business on the plaza’s second floor, the report said.
The floor above the laundromat’s ceiling was ventilated to clear the smoke, and the scene was cleared at 10:51 p.m., according to the report.
The building was evacuated when firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported, spokeswoman Alyson Barton said.
The cause of the fire was unknown as of Monday, Nov. 20, but it did not appear suspicious, Barton said.
Mehlville and the Saline Vally fire protection districts assisted on the call. Rock Township Ambulance District also responded to the scene.
