Authorities say a Dec. 19 fire at a home in the 500 block of Blow Street in De Soto is suspicious.
De Soto Fire Chief James Maupin said several adults were at the home when the fire broke out and all of them made it out safely.
The De Soto Fire Department got a call about the fire at 6:15 a.m., and the fire was brought under control within 15 to 20 minutes, he said
Maupin said the fire damaged only one room in the house, but the residents could not immediately return to the home.
Detective Sgt. Brent Steger of the De Soto Police Department said the fire is under investigation.
“We had the state fire marshal respond to the scene and he determined it suspicious,” Steger said.
However, he would not say why the fire was deemed suspicious.
Steger said the De Soto Police Department is also investigating the cause of the blaze.
He said firefighters remained on scene until 8:44 a.m. The De Soto Rural, Hillsboro, Hematite and Jefferson R-7 fire protection districts and the Valle Ambulance District helped with the call.
