Festus Police are asking for help to find a man who claimed he was delivering a package at a home in the 400 block of South Fourth Street but acted suspiciously when he was asked for credentials. The incident happened about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 24, Chief Tim Lewis said.
The homeowner told police the suspect knocked on the front door and said he had a package that needed to be signed for in order to be delivered. When the homeowner asked for the package and some identification, the man said he had none. The homeowner asked what company or delivery service the man worked for and he turned and left, Lewis said.
The homeowner said the suspect is white and has facial hair. He was wearing a white hoodie and jeans. He was seen leaving the area in a black Nissan SUV.
Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
