Festus Police are seeking a man and a woman who allegedly tried to pass counterfeit money at the 7-Eleven store, 1301 Veterans Blvd. (Hwy. A), in Festus. The incident was reported about 6 p.m. Nov. 17, Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
He said employees told investigators a man and a woman tried to spend two $20 bills at the store, but an employee noticed something wrong with the bills, which looked like money that would be used on a movie set.
“The bills had ‘replica’ printed on them,” Lewis said. “They tried to pass them, but the clerk noticed the work ‘replica’ on it.”
Lewis said the employee confronted the suspects, and they left the store, leaving behind the counterfeit bills. He said the man was described as having brown hair and a beard and was wearing a purple and black jacket, while the woman was wearing a black hoodie.
Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
