Arnold Police arrested a 41-year-old Festus man and a 38-year-old O’Fallon man for allegedly stealing $820 in merchandise from the Walmart store, 2201 Michigan Ave. The two also were arrested for alleged possession of counterfeit money, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
The shoplifting incident happened just before 3 p.m. May 10, when the two men allegedly left the store with food, electronics and other items without paying for them. Police were called to the store and allegedly found the stolen items in the suspects’ vehicle, Wooldridge said.
“The merchandise was in plain view,” he said.
In addition, officers allegedly found three counterfeit $100 bills in the vehicle, Wooldridge said.
The men were transported to the police station, booked and released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek felony stealing and counterfeiting charges against the men through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Wooldridge said.
