woman in handcuffs

A 40-year-old Fenton woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a car she was driving ran off Hwy. 109 in Eureka and hit a street sign on a median. No injuries were reported for the woman, but the car she was driving was heavily damaged, Eureka Police said.

At about 11:15 p.m. April 3, an officer saw the damaged Fusion pulled over on the shoulder of southbound Hwy. 109, so he stopped and the woman reportedly said she looked at her phone, drove onto the median and hit the sign. The officer asked the woman if she had been drinking, and she allegedly said she had two shots of alcohol while at work in Ellisville, the report said.

The woman reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. She was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released to a sober driver with a citation to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for DWI, Lt. Michael Werges said.
