A 25-year-old Fenton man was arrested the day after he allegedly stole another man’s pickup outside the Walgreens pharmacy, 776 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. The suspect recently had met the victim through a dating app, Arnold Police reported.
The alleged victim, a 48-year-old Columbia man, said he drove to and stopped at the Walgreens at about 9:35 p.m. May 16, and the suspect was a passenger in the pickup, a 2017 Ford F-150. The Columbia man said he went into the store alone, and when he came back out, the suspect had driven off in the pickup, the report said.
Arnold Police located the pickup at about 1 p.m. May 17 using Flock license plate-detecting cameras at the Walmart store, 653 Gravois Bluffs Blvd., in the St. Louis County portion of Fenton, according to the report.
Arnold Police detectives and St. Louis County Police officers found the pickup in the parking lot, and after reviewing the store’s surveillance video, they determined the Fenton man had arrived at the store in the F-150, the report said.
The man was located in the store, arrested by St. Louis County Police officers and turned over to Arnold Police detectives. He was taken to the Arnold Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants, according to the report.
Arnold Police will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony stealing, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
