A 40-year-old Fenton man was arrested for allegedly stealing from vehicles in the Konert Valley subdivision northwest of Arnold. A witness allegedly stopped the suspect from getting into a vehicle in the subdivision, and the man abandoned a 2003 Ford F-350 in the street and ran into nearby woods, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The pickup had been reported stolen by the Arnold Police, and it was towed from the scene. The incident happened about 4:30 a.m. Dec. 3, and deputies found the man in the woods at about 8 a.m., according to the report.
The man already was wanted by the Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where he was booked and held without bail on the previous warrant, which stemmed from a 2016 tampering case, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The Sheriff’s Office will seek additional charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of stolen property, stealing, trespassing and tampering in connection with the latest event, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
