The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assault charges against a 25-year-old Fenton man for allegedly driving a car into another man during a neighborhood dispute.
The victim, a 31-year-old Fenton man, said that at about 3 p.m. March 7, he got a hammer “for his protection” and went to confront the suspect for allegedly smoking his tires in the 1000 block of Thousand Pines Drive in the Fenton-area mobile home where both men lived, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The suspect, who was driving a green convertible Grand Marquis, allegedly drove the car at the victim and struck him and then drove off, the report said.
The victim was hurt and taken to an area hospital for treatment, but his injuries were not life threatening, according to the report.
After the incident, the suspect’s car reportedly was found near Del Haven Parc in the Fenton area. Witnesses reported seeing a man park the car there, get out and walk into nearby woods, the report said.
The car had a smashed windshield, according to the report.
After using the license plate number to track down the owner of the car, a suspect was identified, the report said.
He was later arrested, but as of March 11, no charges had been filed, said Lt. Gary Higginbotham of the Sheriff’s Office.
