A 32-year-old Fenton man was arrested at an Arnold hotel, where he allegedly kicked an Arnold Police officer in the face. The incident happened at the Pear Tree Inn after the man reportedly refused to leave the hotel, where he allegedly was sitting in the lobby and drinking whisky from a bottle, authorities reported.
Officers were called to the hotel, 1201 Drury Lane, at about 11 p.m. May 7 after employees asked the man to leave because he was not a guest or accompanying a guest at the hotel. The man allegedly got into arguments with some of the staff members before police arrived, the report said.
When officers arrived, they found the man drinking in the lobby, and he reportedly claimed he was with a guest at the hotel but he refused to produce any form of identification. An officer told the man to stop drinking, and he allegedly started arguing with the officer, according to the report.
The man, who appeared intoxicated, eventually put the bottle down, and an officer handcuffed him. The man fell, and while he was on the floor, he allegedly started kicking at the officers, and one was struck in the face. The officer was not seriously injured, Arnold Police reported.
Officers eventually physically subdued the man, and he was taken to the Police Station and then Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County for evaluation, the report said.
Arnold Police are seeking charges against the man through Arnold Municipal Court for second-degree trespassing, assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.
