A car was stolen twice in a two-month period from outside a home in the 4500 block of Emerald View Court.
The car, a 2013 Infiniti G37, belongs to a 38-year-old Eureka woman, and the car was recovered both times it was stolen, Eureka Police reported.
The woman’s Infiniti was first stolen on Nov. 4. At that time, the car was unlocked and had two key fobs inside it, the report said.
When the car was recovered after that first theft, only one key fob was found in the car. So, it looked like the thief may have used a key fob from the first theft to steal the car the second time, according to the report.
At about 10 p.m. Dec. 3, surveillance video showed someone drive to the Emerald View Court home and walk toward the Infiniti. Before the suspect got to the car, the Infiniti’s headlights flashed, so it appeared the suspect used a key fob to unlock the car and drive away, the report said.
After the second theft, the Infiniti was recovered later that night by St. Louis County Police. It was found in the 9700 block of Chicago Heights Boulevard in Creve Coeur, the report said.
The car was returned to the owner, but no key fob was found in the Infiniti. However, police found a blue surgical mask, which was seized as evidence. Police also and attempted to lift fingerprints from the car, according to the report.
As of Dec. 17, no suspects had been identified from either theft, Lt. Michael Werges said. Anyone with information about the incidents should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
