A Eureka RV storage facility was damaged after heavy snow and ice caused a partial roof collapse on Jan. 12.
The Eureka Fire Protection District was called to St. Louis RV Home-Port on Hwy. FF in the Jefferson County portion of Eureka at 2:58 p.m. Deputy Chief William Stamberger said no one was injured in the collapse.
“Nobody was hurt or trapped,” he said. “The weight of the snow and ice is what caused the collapse. It was a metal building with metal beams – it wasn’t just a little shed.”
According to the storage company’s website, RVs are stored inside the large metal facility as well as outside on a lot. Stamberger said the campers and RVs inside the building are damaged.
“They’ll have to have some larger equipment to get the existing campers out of it,” he said.
