Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are warning residents about a rash of vehicle break-ins throughout the city. The break-ins appear to have begun overnight April 8-9, with one break-in, and five more break-ins reported overnight April 14-15, Capt. David Wilson said.

Vehicles, most of them unlocked, were targeted on Inverrary Court, Thorntree Lane, Spring Cove Court, Palisades Ridge Court and Emerald Oaks Courts, according to reports.

Overnight April 8-9, an unlocked 2014 F-150 pickup was broken into in the 500 block of Inverrary Court. A 41-year-old Eureka man told police stolen items included a $1,500 laptop, $300 noise-canceling headphones and $400 in cash.

Police then received five reports of thefts from vehicles that occurred overnight April 14-15.

■ An unknown amount of blank checks was removed from a 52-year-old Eureka man’s unlocked 2015 GMC Denali in the 600 block of Thorntree Lane.

■ A Legends subdivision key card, Bank of America debit card, gift card and credit card were taken from a 46-year-old Eureka man’s unlocked 2013 Ford F-250 pickup in the 500 block of Inverrary Court.

■ A briefcase worth $565 was taken from a 49-year-old Eureka man’s 2009 Ford Expedition SUV, which was believed to be locked, in the 800 block of Spring Cove Court.

■ A jump-starter pack worth $157 and three flashlights worth a combined $80 were taken from a 37-year-old Eureka man’s 2008 Ford F-150 pickup, which was possibly left unlocked, in the 200 block of Palisades Ridge Court.

■ And $10 in cash, a gift card and a flip phone, with a combined value of $46, were taken from a 39-year-old Eureka man’s unlocked 2012 Ford Explorer SUV in the 700 block of Emerald Oaks Court.

As of April 15, no suspects had been identified and no items had been returned, Capt. David Wilson said.
