A Eureka design business lost $8,151.25 when a check the owner mailed was stolen and cashed at an unknown bank. Investigators believe a Flint, Mich., man forged his name on the check, Eureka Police reported.
The owner of DG2 Design Landscape Architecture reported the theft on May 8. She told investigators she mailed the check on March 18 or 19, the report said.
As of Tuesday, May 27, investigators have not located the man who allegedly cashed the check, Lt. Michael Tapp said.
