Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are searching for two people who allegedly stole $2,155.98 worth of merchandise from the Dickey Bub Farm and Home store, 100 Hilltop Village Center Drive. They were seen leaving the area in a black Toyota Corolla that had front-end damage, police reported.

Officers were called at about 10 a.m. Jan. 18 to the store after a man and woman allegedly pushed a cart full of unpaid items out of the store. The store’s manager, a 42-year-old Gray Summit woman, said the two people were in the store the day before and had left a cart full of unpaid merchandise near the exit, the report said.

The manger told investigators the woman was wearing a beige jacket, gray sweatpants and black boots. The man was wearing a construction vest, black stocking cap, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes, according to the report.

The items stolen included Milwaukee tool sets and clothes. A man shopping in the store followed the two out and followed the car onto eastbound I-44, the report said.

He called 911 before he stopped following the car on the interstate, according to the report.

As of Jan. 27, none of the stolen items had been recovered, and the two suspects had not been identified or arrested, Capt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
