A pickup was damaged when someone apparently was trying to steal it outside Great Escapes RV of St. Louis, 18155 Hwy. 66, in Eureka. Damage to the 2018 Ford F-350, which belongs to the recreation vehicle dealership, was estimated at $1,000, Eureka Police reported.
The incident happened between about 11 a.m. Jan. 19 and 11 a.m. Jan. 21, while the pickup was parked near the business’s service center. It looked like a pry bar that was in the bed of the truck was used to remove the top of the steering column from the pickup, the report said.
The top of the steering column and the bar were found on the floor of the pickup in front of the passenger seat. It is not known if the pickup was locked, Lt. Michael Werges said.
As of Feb. 1, no suspects had been identified, Werges said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
