Eureka Police are investigating a burglary at an office building on North Central Avenue that appears to have occurred over a series of days, March 22-29, with more than $1,400 worth of items taken, Capt. David Wilson said.

The building in the 200 block of North Central Avenue is home to law, dental and veterinarian offices. It also has a vacant office, which is where police suspect someone could have entered the building. An unlocked window was found in that office, raised about an inch, police reported.

An attorney with Connon and Tolin Attorneys at Law first contacted police on March 25 after he believed someone had gone through his office. A report was not filed at that time because only minor items were missing, the report said.

On March 29, police were called back to the building when the attorney reported the theft of a flat-screen TV and projector from a conference room in the building’s lower level. It also was discovered that two leather office chairs, a microwave and projector system had been moved from the lawyer’s office into the vacant office next door, the report said.

Police collected fingerprints from surfaces in the vacant office, as well as napkins and a Pepsi can to test for DNA. It also appeared the building’s shared restroom was used for hygienic purposes, the report said.

The lawyer reported that along with the TV and projector, a CD player, miniature skeleton, drill, nail gun and Blue Ray/DVD player were missing. The items were worth a combined $1,435, according to the report.

As of April 15, there were no suspects and none of the items had been recovered, Wilson said.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
