Eureka Police arrested a 36-year-old Union man for driving with revoked license and alleged drug possession. Officers stopped the man because the Chevrolet pickup he was driving didn’t have a front license plate, and the pickup’s brake lights were not working, police reported.

Officers saw the man driving the pickup at about 10 a.m. Sept. 28 in the area of Fifth Street and Eureka Towne Center Drive. After seeing the pickup didn’t have a front license plate or working brake lights, officers learned the driver’s license had been revoked, the report said.

The police stopped the man near the intersection of Fifth Street and Workman Road. The officers arrested the man for driving with a revoked license, according to the report.

An officer searched the pickup and allegedly found a zipper pouch on the floor that had a crystal-like substance and a glass pipe with burnt residue inside it. The man allegedly told the officers the substance was methamphetamine and belonged to him, the report said.

The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending the application for charges, according to the report.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the man through the St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Lt. Brett Grittini said.

Grittini said the man also was issued summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for allegedly driving with a revoked license.
