A 37-year-old Sullivan woman recently was arrested in Eureka for alleged possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. She was arrested after Eureka Police stopped the car she was riding in. She already was wanted on a warrant from Sullivan Police, authorities reported.
The driver of the car, a 36-year-old Sullivan man, was arrested because he was wanted on warrants from the Shrewsbury and St. Louis Police departments and allegedly was driving with a suspended license. Another 36-year-old Sullivan man who was a passenger in the car was arrested because he was wanted on a warrant from Des Peres Police, Eureka Police reported.
At about 6:30 p.m. May 2, a Eureka Police officer spotted a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier parked outside Walmart, 131 Eureka Towne Center Drive, with no one in the driver’s seat, a man sitting in the passenger’s seat and a woman lying down in the back seat. The officer looked up the Cavalier’s license plate and learned it was issued to a driver whose license had been suspended, the report said.
A man got into the Cavalier and drove away from Walmart, and the officer followed the car and stopped it in the parking lot of the America’s Best Inn, 1725 W. Fifth St. The driver could only provide an insurance card. The driver identified himself, and the Eureka Police officer arrested him after verifying the man’s driver’s license was suspended and he was wanted on warrants, according to the report.
When the woman exited the car, a number of capsules reportedly fell off her lap. Police allegedly found more capsules in her purse, for a total of 44 capsules that contained a powdery substance believed to be fentanyl. She also had 24 hypodermic needles in her purse, the report said.
She was arrested on the warrant and on suspicion of drug possession, Eureka Police reported.
The two men and woman were held for the other law enforcement agencies that wanted them, and the driver of the Cavalier was issued a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for driving with a revoked license, Lt. Michael Werges said.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the woman through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Werges said.
