Police arrested Tyler Wilson, 33, of Beaufort for alleged possession of heroin on Sept. 22 in Eureka, several hours after he allegedly robbed a clerk at a store in Franklin County, authorities reported.

Police were called at 2 p.m. to the Pizza Hut, 77 Hilltop Village Center Drive, in Eureka, where an employee reportedly saw Wilson acting strangely in the dining room. When an officer arrived and Wilson started walking towards the bathroom, pills allegedly fell out of his pocket, Eureka Police reported.

Wilson appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic, and officers allegedly found a total of 79 pills that Wilson had dropped or still had in his pockets. Authorities believe the pills contained heroin, according to the report.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against Wilson through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Lt. Michael Werges said.

After Eureka Police arrested Wilson, they learned he already was wanted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for an alleged robbery that occurred about 7 a.m. that day at Voss’ Market, 3993 Hwy. 50, in Beaufort, authorities reported.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Pelton said Wilson was inside the store and walked over to the clerk who was filling an ATM with cash. The clerk placed his hand on the cash he was putting in the ATM and asked Wilson to step back, but Wilson allegedly pushed the clerk aside, grabbed the money and ran out the front door.

Wilson was charged Sept. 23 with stealing, a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, stemming from the alleged robbery, according to court records.

Wilson also is facing charges in Franklin County for first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, a class D felony; resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor; failure to stop for a police officer, a class A misdemeanor; speeding, a class B misdemeanor; failure to register a motor vehicle, a class B misdemeanor; driving without a valid license, a class D misdemeanor; and driving without insurance, a class D misdemeanor, all tied to a February incident in Franklin County, court records show.

A class D felony is punishable by up to seven years in prison. A class A misdemeanor carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and a fine up to $2,000, and a class B misdemeanor carries a penalty of up to six months in jail and a fine up to $1,000. A class D misdemeanor carries a fine up to $500.
