Eureka Police arrested a 35-year-old St. Louis man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following an accident on eastbound I-44 near Williams Road. The man and three others traveling in the SUV were not injured in the crash, police reported.
Officers were called at about 9 p.m. March 22 after a 2014 Toyota Highlander went off the side of the interstate and crashed into a ditch. The SUV was heavily damaged, but all four people in the Highlander were walking away from the crash when police arrived, the report said.
The man, who was driving the SUV, appeared to be intoxicated, and he allegedly failed field sobriety tests. He was arrested and taken to the Police Station, according to the report.
The man registered a 0.127 percent blood-alcohol content while being booked, the report said. In Missouri, 0.08 percent is the legal limit.
He was released to a sober driver and was issued a summons to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged DWI, Capt. Michael Werges said.
