Eureka Police arrested a 46-year-old St. Louis man for allegedly driving an SUV that was reported stolen in Detroit. Officers were notified that the stolen SUV had entered the city by Flock license-plate reading cameras, police reported.
At about 2:10 p.m. Feb. 11, officers received the alert about a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox traveling on Hwy. 109. The officers then saw the SUV parked at a gas pump at the QuikTrip gas station, 290 E. Fourth St., the report said.
The man allegedly told the officers the SUV belonged to a friend. The officers arrested the man after confirming the Equinox was reported stolen, according to the report.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending the application for a warrant, the report said.
Eureka Police will seek a charge against the man through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, Capt. Michael Werges said.
