man in handcuffs

A 70-year-old Eureka man was arrested for suspicion of DWI after he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign on Meramec View Drive at Bluffs View Court. He allegedly registered a .139 percent blood-alcohol content, Eureka Police reported.

In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.

At about 10:15 p.m. July 26, an officer stopped a 2005 Chrysler Sebring on Meramec View Drive. The driver attempted to get out of the car but was instructed to remain in the driver’s seat, the report said.

The man appeared intoxicated, and he allegedly said he drank alcohol while having dinner with family members. The man allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested, according to the report.

He was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released to a sober driver. The driver was given summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for DWI and failing to stop at a stop sign, Capt. Michael Werges said.
