A 47-year-old Eureka man was arrested for allegedly abusing his 37-year-old wife, Eureka Police reported.
Police were called at about 9:50 p.m. Dec. 29 to the couple’s home in the 1600 block of Grace View Drive after the woman sent a text message to her mother saying her husband had been drinking and she feared he would hurt her, police reported.
The woman said in the text message the man had threatened to kill her, the report said.
When police arrived, the woman told them she was wearing a neck brace because in early November, her husband had grabbed her by the neck, choked her and threw her into a closet. She said she was diagnosed with a ruptured disc, which required surgery, the report said.
The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released. Police plan to seek a charge of second-degree domestic assault through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for the incident that injured the woman’s neck, Capt. David Wilson said.
While the man was at the station, the woman was given information on how to obtain an order of protection and authorities offered to take her to a safe place. The woman declined to leave her home, the report said.
