Four men were allegedly seen in surveillance video working together to steal three pellet guns from the Dickey Bub Farm and Home store, 100 Hilltop Village Center Drive. The three pellet guns have a combined value of $98, and the men allegedly broke two display case locks valued at a combined $50, Eureka Police reported.
Officers were called to the store at about 2:45 p.m. April 21. An employee told police the men were seen walking east along Fifth Street, the report said.
Surveillance video reportedly showed one of the men talk with an employee at the firearm counter, while three other men appeared to huddle near a shelf where pellet pistols were displayed. One of the men allegedly tore two pellet pistol packages and a pellet rifle package off locked hangers, according to the report.
Two men were allegedly seen in the video going into the bathroom with the packaged pellet guns, and one of the men had a backpack. They came out of the bathroom after about five minutes, but they no longer had the pellet gun packages, the report said.
The four men then left the store together without purchasing any items, according to the report.
The packaging was found in the bathroom, the report said.
As of May 7, none of the pellet guns had been recovered, and the four men had not been identified, Capt. Michael Werges said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
