A home on Fall Flower Court in the Jefferson County portion of Eureka was “heavily damaged” after it was struck by lightning on Sunday night (July 19), which caused a roof fire. The family escaped the home unharmed, Eureka Fire Protection District public information officer Scott Barthelmass said.
He said Eureka Fire got a call at 7:38 p.m. about the fire, and when crews arrived on the scene at 7:46 p.m., the family already was outside the home, which is in the Mirasol subdivision.
Barton said the home is now uninhabitable.
He said crews had the fire under control at 8:40 p.m. and stayed on the scene until 10:55 p.m.
The High Ridge, Cedar Hill, Pacific, Valley Park and Metro West fire protection districts and the Big River and Meramec ambulance districts helped with the call.
