Pickup slams into Festus home

A Festus home was damaged when a pickup slammed into it Monday night.

A suspected drunk driver crashed his pickup into a Festus house Monday night (Dec. 15), taking out about a 10-foot-wide section of the home’s front and narrowly missing a man and woman who were standing in front of the home, authorities reported.

The home in the 800 block of American Legion Drive was declared structurally unsound and the family has been forced to find other living arrangements until the house is repaired, Festus Fire Chief Chuck Boyer said.

Festus Police received a call around 6 p.m. about the pickup smashing into the house, Chief Tim Lewis said.

Lewis said his department will seek charges against the suspect, a 49-year-old Festus man, for allegedly driving while intoxicated and not having insurance.

The suspect, who was driving a 1987 Ford F-150, was arrested, processed and released pending charges, Lewis said.

He said it was fortunate no one was injured in the accident.
