A De Soto Fire Department truck overturned after it ran off the side of Hwy. V near Hammon Road south of De Soto this afternoon, April 5. Two people were in the truck, but no injuries were reported, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
At about 1:30 p.m., the driver was traveling on the highway and when it appeared the truck was too close to the shoulder, the driver overcorrected and the truck rolled off the road, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Sheriff’s Office deputies and De Soto Police officers responded to the scene, and the highway was closed to traffic for just more than two hours while the truck was towed from the scene, the report said.
The Sheriff’s Office did not have information this afternoon about who was in the truck at the time of the accident or whether the truck was damaged.
De Soto Fire personnel were not available to discuss the accident today.
