A 46-year-old Crystal City woman was arrested in Arnold for reportedly stealing a phone and possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia. The woman allegedly stole the phone from a dressing room at the Arnold Walmart store, and police officers tracked the phone to a nearby Walgreens, Arnold Police reported.
A 34-year-old St. Louis woman called police at about 8:35 p.m. June 10 to Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave., after she discovered her iPhone was missing. She said she had left the phone, which was valued at about $800, in the dressing room, and when she returned to get it, the phone was gone, the report said.
The officers used the phone’s GPS system to track it to the Walgreens at 776 Jeffco Blvd., which is about 1 1/2 miles north of Walmart. Officers went to Walgreens, and an employee told them a woman had entered the store and rushed into the bathroom, according to the report.
The officers questioned the woman when she exited the bathroom, but she did not have the phone. However, officers watched the store’s surveillance video and allegedly saw her stash the phone in a box of candy on one of the shelves. They found the phone and arrested her, the report said.
The woman reportedly admitted to taking the phone from the dressing room at Walmart. In addition, officers allegedly found a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia, in her purse, Arnold Police reported
She was taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for stealing, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
