A Jefferson County woman called 911 Sunday evening (Jan. 24) after it became dark and she could not find her way out of Don Robinson State Park in Cedar Hill. The woman had no flashlight, Cedar Hill Fire Protection District Chief Mick Fischer said.
Fischer said crews used her cell phone GPS to locate her on the red trail.
“Crews were able to walk right to her,” he said.
Fischer said crews were dispatched at 5:37 p.m., were on the scene by 5:45 p.m. and found the hiker at 6:22 p.m. He said crews were on the scene until 6:59 p.m.
Fischer said the hiker was alone, but she had a charged cell phone. He said it's important for people to make sure their cell phones are charged before hiking.
Fischer said the fire district gets about six calls a year about a lost or injured hiker at the park, and this was the first one this year 2021. Cedar Hill Fire
Fischer said Big River Ambulance and Jefferson County Sheriff's Office also responded to the scene.
