Arnold Police are investigating the theft of catalytic converter from a car left at Russell’s Auto Repair shop to be worked on and another one from a pickup that belongs to the shop. The cost to replace the two stolen converters was estimated at about $700, police reported.
Two men were seen in surveillance video at about 10:40 p.m. April 10 in a Chevrolet Colorado that pulled onto the parking lot of the auto repair shop, 631 Jeffco Blvd. The pickup parked next to a 2005 Hyundai Sonata, and the two men got out of the Colorado. It appeared one of the men acted as a lookout, while the other man allegedly cut the converter off the Sonata, the report said.
On April 21, the business owner told police he discovered the catalytic converter on his 1996 Ford F-250 also had been removed. It is believed it happened on April 10, but surveillance video did not show anyone near the pickup, according to reports.
The estimated cost to repair the Sonata was $300, and the cost to repair the F-250 was about $400, Arnold Police reported.
As of May 2, the converters had not been recovered, and the two men in the video had not been identified, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
