The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify a person suspected of stealing a car from outside an Imperial home. The car was recovered outside of an unoccupied home in Robertsville, authorities reported.
A man called the Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 2 to report his 2025 Hyundai Elantra was stolen outside of his home in the 3800 block of Treebrook Lane in Imperial. The man said he may have left a set of spare keys inside the car, the report said.
Deputies were called by a different man on Dec. 4 to come to a home he recently purchased in the 9400 block of Woodland Road in Robertsville because the Elantra was parked in the driveway. After confirming the Elantra was the one reported stolen in Imperial, deputies returned the car to its owner, according to the report.
As of Dec. 12, no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
