Unfortunately, the new year rang in with a bang at a Fenton-area apartment building.

As midnight neared on New Year’s Eve, two bullets struck the outside of an apartment in the 300 block of Mount Everest Drive in unincorporated Fenton, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The building’s owner reported on Jan. 2 that bullets damaged the exterior siding and interior drywall of an apartment. An estimate for the damage was not provided, the report said.

As of Jan. 7, it was not known who shot the gun, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
