above-ground pool

An above-ground pool similar to this one recently was damaged by a bullet.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating recent damage to a swimming pool at a home in the 3600 block of Blecha Road in Imperial. It looked like someone fired a shot at the above-ground pool, which caused about $4,000 in damage, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

The property damage occurred about 3:30 p.m. July 13. The victims said they were inside their house at the time and heard a noise that sounded like a “single gunshot.” A few hours later, after stormy weather cleared up, a woman who lives at the home went outside to drain water from the pool that had overfilled because of the rain and found a hole on the west side of it, the report said.

Deputies were called to the scene and found fragments from a bullet inside the pool. As of Monday (July 18), there were no suspects or arrests, said Lt. Gary Higginbotham. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
