Matthew Bryant, 30, of De Soto recently was sentenced to nine years in prison following felony drug and fraud charges and a probation violation, according to court papers.
In May 2011, Bryant was found in Jefferson County growing marijuana and attempting to make methamphetamine, the report said.
A few months earlier, in February 2011, he illegally used someone else’s debit card to buy items at local convenience stores and restaurants, racking up at least $500 on the card, according to the report.
Bryant pleaded guilty to two felony counts of producing or attempting to produce a controlled substance and one count of fraudulent use of a credit device, and in June 2012, he was sentenced to two nine-year terms and one four-year term. However, the sentences were suspended, and he was placed on five years’ probation, court records show.
He violated the probation, though, and on Aug. 29, 2016, Jefferson County Div. 6 Circuit Judge Troy Cardona executed the sentences, which are to be served concurrently, or at the same time, the report said.
Bryant currently is facing a felony charge for receiving stolen property stemming from a June 2016 incident in Jefferson County, and that case is still pending.
