The remains of a Jefferson County woman were found last week in a wooded area east of De Soto, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Sheriff Dave Marshak reported in a written statement that the body of Emily Strite was found Sept. 28 in the 4100 block of Frissell Road.
She had been missing since April.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office identified her body today, Oct. 1, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
He said there was no indication how Strite died.
The owner of the property on Frissel Road found the woman’s remains, the statement said.
The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate Strite’s death, Marshak said in the statement today.
Strite was last seen on April 12 in De Soto and was reported missing on April 20.
The Sheriff’s Office requested the public’s help to find her on April 25.
Strite was 33 when she was reported missing and her birthday was in May, Bissell said.
